Short Description

A scattered community of hermit-like humanoid owl-folk that live in small family units in remote places across the world and are known for their curiosity, wisdom, and racial kinship

Full Description

Hidden away in the far-reaching corners of the world, the Owlin race leads a secluded and introspective existence. These humanoid owl-folk are recognized by their avian features, large expressive eyes, and a coat of soft, mottled feathers covering their bodies. Resembling owls, they possess a serene and contemplative demeanor, often complemented by an insatiable curiosity and a deep reservoir of wisdom.

Society

Owlins typically reside in remote, inaccessible locations, such as dense forests, mountain cliffs, and hidden valleys, where they can pursue their interests in peace and observe the world from a distance. They live in small family units, forming tight-knit bonds with their kin and valuing the tranquility and solitude that their secluded homes offer. Despite their hermit-like nature, Owlins are not isolationists and will occasionally venture into the wider world to share their knowledge or satisfy their curiosity.

Characteristics

Known for their keen intellect and acute senses, Owlins are excellent scholars, researchers, and scouts. They possess remarkable night vision and can rotate their heads to a remarkable degree, allowing them to perceive their surroundings with exceptional clarity. Despite their generally pacific nature, they are capable defenders of their homes, using their sharp talons and beaks when threatened.

Kinship and Curiosity

Owlin communities are sparse, but the bond of racial kinship runs deep among them. They maintain a network of communication through which they share discoveries, wisdom, and news of the wider world. Owlins are drawn to mysteries and the unknown, and many embark on solitary journeys to uncover ancient secrets or observe the wonders of nature.

Interaction with Other Races

While they prefer solitude, Owlins are not unfriendly and will engage with other races, especially when there is an opportunity to acquire new knowledge or satisfy their curiosity. They are respected by many for their wisdom and insight, and their reclusive nature often leads to them being sought out as sages and advisors.
