Archons
Archons are members of the Hierarchy of the Heavens described in the first Godspact, the Otaani Balance. They rank below the Prime Deities and Divines and above the Seraphs, and they are not true gods.
Nature
Section titled “Nature”Each Archon is a philosophical embodiment of a single facet of one of the Prime Domains. Where a Divine holds authority over an aspect of a domain, an Archon is closer to an idea given voice. Archons live within a Pure Realm and are bound to it, so they cannot leave the domain whose facet they embody.
Role among the Gods
Section titled “Role among the Gods”Archons give counsel to the gods of their realm and oversee the workings of its Deities and Divines. Because the gods may not act on mortals directly, the pact names the Archons as the channel through which divine influence reaches the mortal world. When an Archon’s will must be carried out among mortals, it sends Seraphs to do the work.
Glimpses by Mortals
Section titled “Glimpses by Mortals”Archons reach mortals through spiritual connection: dreams, visions, epiphanies and sudden guidance or knowledge. Many mortal accounts of the Divine Planes may be glimpses granted by an Archon rather than by a god. The Transitive Planes are said to be battlegrounds where Archons and Seraphs vie for influence.
The renewed Godspact of the Phoenix Chryseum ended this hierarchy, naming the Archons among the intermediaries of divinity that are now gone.
