The Mana Tides

The Mana Tides are one of the Wilds of Ravena, the untamed lands that lie beyond the moon’s great megalopolis. Ravena was forged in a great Aethyr-fusion reaction and still carries a powerful core, and as their name suggests, the Mana Tides are a place where that magic is felt strongly, rising and falling like the sea.

Little about the region is fixed. Accounts describe shifting ground, strange formations of crystal and stone, and stretches of land that look different from one visit to the next. Maps of the Tides are rarely trusted for long.

The weather follows the magic as much as the seasons. Calm stretches give way to surges in which the air glows, crackles or feels heavy, and travelers learn to wait these out rather than press on.

Few people live in the Tides for long. Scholars studying Aethyr, prospectors after crystals or rare materials, and creatures that thrive on raw magic are the most common visitors.

When the Tides surge, spells can misfire, enchanted items can behave unpredictably and Aethyr instability can strike without warning. Those caught unprepared may be harmed or changed in ways that are hard to undo.

The region is said to hold sites where the moon’s magic runs especially close to the surface. Researchers value them highly.
