The Chancery of the Fortunes
The Chancery of the Fortunes honors the forces behind the ebb and flow of fortune and chance. Its followers include those who seek success through audacity and bravery, and those who simply accept that fate is random.
Deities Venerated
Section titled “Deities Venerated”The Chancery’s patron is Sharlesyn the Fortuneseer, Prime Deity of Luck, whose realm is Horizon, Sharlesyn’s Domain. The Divines who serve under Sharlesyn are:
- Markonis the Traveler, of Travel
- Bytaren the Rogue, of Thieves
- Darenzyl the Merchant, of Commerce
- Hanzeleon the Twin of Tragedy and Gretafina the Twin of Prosperity, of Misfortune and Fortune
- Jamytheon the Braveheart, of Adventure
- Dyadonnis the Fatespinner, of Fate, who also belongs to the Church of the Advancements
Tenets
Section titled “Tenets”Luck is not earned, the faithful say, but it can be courted. Boldness is a virtue, and so is grace in loss, since the Twins take their turns and no run of good or ill lasts forever.
Clergy and Rites
Section titled “Clergy and Rites”The Chancery draws travelers, traders, gamblers and adventurers, and its clergy are often as mobile as their flock. Small offerings before a journey, a venture or a wager are common, as are thanks given afterward, whatever the outcome.
Holy Sites
Section titled “Holy Sites”Shrines to the Fortunes stand at markets, roadsides, docks and gaming houses, wherever chances are taken.
