Sherkan (Sahuagin)
The Sherkan are the shark-folk of Vitaea, a Seaborn heritage known for strong family ties, ruthless ferocity and a distaste for other peoples. Like the other beastfolk, they descend from the True Sylvari and gained sapience in the Great Awakening, some 40,000 years ago.
Appearance
Section titled “Appearance”A Sherkan stands about six feet tall and weighs around 200 pounds, with scales in greens, blues and whites and a mouth full of teeth. They find their way by echolocation, out to about 60 feet in air and 600 feet underwater.
Society and Culture
Section titled “Society and Culture”Family is the center of Sherkan life, and loyalty to kin outweighs almost everything else. In battle they are savage, and the scent of blood can drive them into a frenzy.
Homeland
Section titled “Homeland”Their home region is Sag’Avra, on the continent of Xodai. Sherkan warlords also hold small but powerful enclaves scattered across Ilo’Avra.
Life Cycle
Section titled “Life Cycle”A Sherkan lives around 100 years. They breathe both air and water, but must return to the water regularly.
Relations
Section titled “Relations”Most speak Aethyrian Common, Aquan and Sahuagin. Their hostility toward outsiders keeps contact with other heritages limited and often tense.
