Special Heritages

(unlinked page)

Aethaboren (Aetherborn)

Machaboren (Warforged)

Proma (Promethean Races)

Soraboren (Changeling)

Vikrinboren (Simic Hybrid)

The special heritages are peoples who fit neither the Aradaean nor the Vitaean families. Most did not arise through the slow divergence of a shared ancestry. Some were made, some were altered, and some simply appeared where Aethyr ran strong. Others are far older than either planet’s peoples, reaching back to Terra and the Otaan.

Because of these unusual origins, most special heritages are scattered rather than settled. Many of their members live as individuals within other societies, and few have a homeland they can call their own. Magic is the common thread, the cause behind nearly every one of them.

Some of these peoples are relatively recent, counted in centuries or a few thousand years, while the Promethean lines and the shapeshifting Soraboren reach back hundreds of thousands of years.

  • Aethaboren (Aethyrborn): fleeting humanoid manifestations of concentrated Aethyr, short-lived and hungry for magic.
  • Machaboren (Warforged): humanoids built by other peoples from machinery and magic and given a mortal soul, often for war or labor.
  • Proma (Promethean Races): the primordial peoples of Terra, and the Eldaari and Wataari who descend from the Otaan.
  • Soraboren (Changeling): shapeshifters of uncertain origin who use their mercurial forms to blend in among others.
  • Vikrinboren (Simic Hybrid): people of many heritages reshaped by the Vikrin Society’s experiments in pursuit of biological perfection.
