Vikrinboren (Simic Hybrid)
The Vikrinboren are people of many different heritages who have been genetically altered by the Vikrin Society, taking on traits of other races or creatures through experiments aimed at biological perfection. They are defined by what was done to them rather than by birth.
Appearance
Section titled “Appearance”Because they begin as members of different heritages, Vikrinboren vary widely in size, coloring and hair. What they share is the mark of alteration: enhancements drawn from animals or other creatures, grafted onto a humanoid template, and eyes that see well in the dark.
Homeland
Section titled “Homeland”Their home is given as Ravena, where the Vikrin Society is one of the guilds. Most speak Aethyrian Common and at least one other language.
Life Cycle
Section titled “Life Cycle”The alterations take a toll. Vikrinboren lives are generally shorter than those of their original heritages, and their reshaped biology can be unstable, though it also lends some resistance to poison. The practice is thought to go back around 1,000 years.
Relations
Section titled “Relations”Since they come from many peoples, Vikrinboren often keep ties to the families and communities they were born into, even as the changes set them apart.
Among the Aethyrsparked
Section titled “Among the Aethyrsparked”A Vikrinboren who becomes Aethyrsparked binds a remade body to the Aethyrweave, gaining the resilience and chance of revival that only Aethyrsparked souls have.
