Materials

Myzium

Materials are the substances from which Geminaea’s technology is made. Every form of matter holds some Aethyr potential, and materials in which Aethyr is concentrated behave in ways ordinary matter cannot. Such materials tend to be volatile, and each has a limit to how much Aethyr it can hold, set by its composition and other physical factors. Pushed past that limit, a material may become dangerously unstable.

  • Myzium: the plasma-like, highest-energy form of Aethyr, which powers airships and other high-output technology.
  • Lyrium: solid, crystalline Aethyr and its most stable form, ground into powder for fuel and enchantment.
  • Metal, stone and glass: worked in foundries, forges and glassworks.
  • Living materials: wood, chitin and other grown materials, shaped while living or after harvest.

Materials rich in Aethyr are among the most valuable resources in Geminaea. Nations and empires compete for control of Aethyr-rich regions and Lyrium mines, and trade in Aethyr-infused goods often decides the wealth and power of entire cities.
