Elemari (Genasi)

The Elemari are Aradaea’s elemental folk, humanoids whose bodies and temperaments have been shaped by long exposure to the elemental planes. They live in Valdesh, an island continent in the far south-west where the boundary between the mortal plane and the elemental realms runs thin. Elsewhere they are sometimes called distant cousins of the elementals.

All four Elemari peoples descend from Aradaea’s true humans, diverging through region and magic over some 200,000 years, and each lives for around a century. Communities cluster by elemental affinity, since land that suits one element often punishes another, yet neighboring settlements depend on one another for what they cannot provide alone.

The Elemari were once fiercely tribal and competitive, but their last great war ended nearly three centuries ago. Today most share a communal outlook in which councils of druids, sages and shamans guide each settlement by consensus, and change is approached with caution. Valdesh remains isolated, and few Elemari travel beyond it.

• Elemari Koga (Earth Genasi): earth kin of cliffs, deep valleys and caverns.
• Elemari Sotan (Water Genasi): clans that follow rivers and coastal inlets.
• Elemari Xeeko (Fire Genasi): fire-blooded folk of volcanic wastes and arid deserts.
