Constructs

Golems

Drones

Constructs are artificial beings: bodies of clay, stone, metal or other materials, animated by magic and bound to a purpose. In most, a sculpted or mechanical body is joined to a bound magical intelligence powered by Aethyr. They range from small servants that perform a single task to tireless soldiers.

Which societies rely on constructs most, and how, is yet to be described. Some constructs have come to be counted as people in their own right: the Machaboren (Warforged) are listed among Geminaea’s special heritages.

  • Golems: large constructs of clay, stone, iron or flesh that guard, labor and obey.
  • Drones: small, numerous constructs that carry out simple, repetitive tasks.
  • Warforged: arcane constructs built as soldiers, now counted among Geminaea’s peoples.

Building constructs takes skilled makers, costly materials and a steady supply of Aethyr, so they are concentrated in wealthy, technologically advanced states. Their military value makes them a matter of state policy wherever they are built.
