The Cult of the Eternal Soul
The Cult of the Eternal Soul holds that the soul is immutable and can be made to outlast the forces of death. Where many faiths make their peace with mortality, the Cult seeks to break its chains.
Deities Venerated
Section titled “Deities Venerated”The Cult honors a single god, Fraedyzen the Undying, Divine of Undeath, who represents the desire of his followers to escape mortality. It is one of the few sects whose only patron is a Divine rather than a Prime Deity, and Fraedyzen holds a realm of his own, Eternity, Fraedyzen’s Domain.
Tenets
Section titled “Tenets”Followers believe that death is not inevitable for those with the will and the means to resist it. Because the soul does not change, they reason, it can in principle endure forever, and the Cult’s teachings are concerned with how that might be achieved.
Clergy and Rites
Section titled “Clergy and Rites”Its aims sit uneasily beside those of other faiths, especially the Church of the Passing, so the Cult often keeps its practices private. Its rites are concerned with preserving the body, the memory or the soul beyond its natural span.
Holy Sites
Section titled “Holy Sites”Little is recorded of the Cult’s holy places. Where they exist, they are said to be hidden, often in tombs, crypts or other places that already belong to the dead.
