The Order of the Shroud

The Order of the Shroud is the counterpart to the Order of the Unveiled. Where the Unveiled seek to bring truth to light, the Shroud represents all that is hidden and unknown about the world. Its followers see the importance and power of concealment and believe that some things should not be known.

Knowledge is power, the faithful say, and power shared too freely can be misused. Keeping secrets is a duty, and discretion is the first virtue asked of any follower. Some take this as a call to protect dangerous truths, while others see it as permission to deceive.

The Order’s clergy are rarely known as such. Spies, keepers of confidences and those who guard forbidden lore may all count themselves among its followers. Rites are private and often spoken in codes or ciphers.

Holy sites of the Shroud are, fittingly, seldom recorded. Shrines may be hidden in plain sight, in cellars, vaults or places that only the initiated know how to find.
