The Rending and the Reconstruction

After the cataclysmic event known as The Rending, which split the world of Terra in two, only a single group of humans survived to witness the aftermath. These survivors, known as the Otaan, had foreseen the inevitable destruction and found a way to escape the planet before its final collapse. Guided by their leader, Ola’Vandyr, the Otaan fled to Terra’s moon, where they sought refuge from the devastation below.
The Otaan were a contemplative and philosophical people, dedicated to understanding the world through inquiry and observation. They believed that existence was influenced by two ultimate forces: the nature of thought and the nature of reality. This belief guided their actions as they watched the final acts of the War of the Gods unfold from their sanctuary on the moon.
As the only mortals left in the wake of the cataclysm, the Otaan recognized that they alone had the power to shape the future of the broken world. For generations, they debated how to rebuild a world that would avoid the same path of destruction that had doomed Terra. They sought a balance between thought and reality, but their efforts were hindered by the very individuality that made them mortal. They realized that as long as individuals possessed control over both forces, true balance could never be achieved.
In response, the Otaan made a drastic decision: they split their people into two distinct halves, each representing one of the ultimate forces. The Eldaari embodied the unity of thought, while the Wataari embodied control over reality. This separation allowed them to take the fate of the world into their hands and reforge it according to their new philosophy.
Together, the Eldaari and Wataari reconstructed the broken halves of Terra into two new planets: Aradaea and Vitaea. They also created a new pantheon of gods, each representing different aspects of existence, carefully balanced in their powers and relationships. This pantheon would guide the rebirth of mortal life in the world, ensuring that the mistakes of the past would not be repeated.
For 1,000 years, the gods walked the mortal realm, overseeing the reconstruction of the world. When their work was complete, they established the Divine Gate in the far reaches of the Astral Sea, separating the divine from the mortal. The gods retreated to their domains, leaving the Eldaari and Wataari to watch over the re-emerging mortal realm.
Once rebuilt, the Eldaari and Wataari waited for mortal life to redevelop within reconstructed Geminaea. By employing two Fragments of Creation, the servitors of the Otaan performed their sacred roles. With the Mind Stone, the Eldaari listened to the thoughts of mortals and passed them on to the gods. The gods’ power and influence would rise or fall depending on the collective direction of mortal thought. In turn, using the Space stone, the Wataari shaped reality according to the divine will, maintaining the balance between thought and reality.
This new system preserved the individuality of mortals while preventing the chaos that had once threatened to destroy the world. The Otaan’s legacy lives on in the reconstructed world of Geminaea, a world where balance was the key to survival.
