Aradaea is the arid twin among Geminaea’s planets, a world of scarce water and potent Aethyr that formed from the shattered remains of Terra. The civilizations listed above are its major peoples and powers. Their forms of rule vary widely: city-states, kingdoms, an empire, a hegemony, magistracies, clans, tribes and thaigs all appear among them.

Aradaea’s civilizations are spread across the continents of Akaria, Altara, Maldera, Shezul and Valdesh. Akaria holds many of them, including Khusan, Mazhai, Ultara, Enthak and Kolgaren. Vilderbald, Eninthal, Vogdu and the Scorchedlands lie in Maldera, and Kaladar and Esken in Shezul. The Regions of Aradaea cover the lands themselves.

Aradaea’s first peoples were nomadic tribes who learned to catch and store water in a harsh land. One of the earliest great civilizations was the Dynasty of Mazhai, which mastered irrigation and early Aethyr work along a glacier-fed river before collapsing for reasons still debated. Over time Aradaea’s humans diverged into elves, dwarves, giants and other peoples, and city-states and kingdoms rose among them.

In the Arcane Era three powers came to the fore: Kaladar, a meritocratic republic of arcane scholarship and technology; Ultara, a theocracy that revered Aethyr as divine; and Vilderbald, an imperial republic whose warriors blended sword and spell. Since Ravena’s founding, traditional communities and growing cities alike have had to weigh their heritage against the pull of trade between the worlds. The History of Aradaea tells the fuller story.
