Week Structure

In the Geminaean Spiral calendar, the fundamental unit of timekeeping and daily life is the Deka—a 10-day week cycle aligned with the structure and rhythm of Ravena’s civic institutions. Each day in a Deka is named after one of the Ten Guilds of the Pact, reflecting their dominion over specific realms of work, philosophy, and public service.

This structure was formalized by the Raveni Office of the Guildpact following the War of the Moon, designed to bring cohesion to the diverse work practices, festival observances, and bureaucratic systems that emerged across Geminaea. Over the centuries, the guild-day cycle has been widely adopted, becoming a cultural cornerstone even beyond Ravena.

Each day of a Deka is governed by a guild of the Pact. These ten days are grouped into four cultural cycles: The Duties, The Learnings, The Harvests, and The Freedoms—each reflecting a pillar of Raveni civilization.

  • Most public offices and guildhalls operate on an 8-day cycle, reserving Drogasda and Litrasda for cultural rituals, rest, or unofficial business.
  • Guild laws and rituals often align with their named day, and public functions (such as courts, patrols, or rituals) tend to be scheduled accordingly.
  • In cities with strong guild presence, street banners or sound chimes denote the start of each new guild-day.

While the Deka is standard in Ravena and its satellite regions, local interpretations abound:

  • Rural communities may shorten the cycle or rename days to reflect ancestral traditions.
  • Independent enclaves may observe “silent days” on Vikrasda or Mrglasda, closing markets to honor healing or penance.
  • In Vitaean jungleholds, Shelrasda and Ograsda are paired in seasonal festivals of abundance.

Nonetheless, for purposes of diplomacy, ritual, and time-magic, the official Deka remains universally honored.

The Deka is a mirror of society. Its early days emphasize duty and structure. Its mid-days focus on the sharing of knowledge and healing. Its final days are a release into celebration, wilderness, and truth.

Raveni artists often depict the Deka as a spiral wheel, with each day painted in the color of its guild and etched with iconography sacred to that domain.
