Seaborn

Cephalon (Octopus)

Picatha (Fishfolk)

Sherkan (Sahuagin)

Naga (Yuan-Ti)

The Seaborn are the Vitaean peoples of the oceans, coasts and shallows. Like most Vitaean heritages they rose to sapience during the Great Awakening, some 40,000 years ago, and most live around a century. Much more of Vitaea’s surface lies under water than Aradaea’s, and the sea shapes every part of Seaborn life.

The Seaborn peoples have little in common beyond their ties to the water. Some keep largely to themselves and regard other races with suspicion or open hostility, while others trade and deal with the surface world when it suits them. Their homelands lie scattered across the waters of Vitaea, from Eko’Avra and Ilo’Avra to Eskelieh.

  • Cephalon (Octopus-folk): octopus-like people whose lore has yet to be written.
  • Picatha (Fishfolk): fish-folk known for the crowded, many-layered ocean cities of Eko’Avra.
  • Loca-Toa (Fishfolk): theocratic fish-folk of Ilo’Avra’s coastal shallows, devoted to a prophet who inspires a fervent, cult-like faith.
  • Sherkan (Sahuagin): shark-folk with close family ties, a reputation for ruthless ferocity and a dislike of other races.
  • Naga (Yuan-Ti): snake-folk ruled by an authoritarian theocracy, known for cold-blooded court intrigue and hatred of other races.
  • Triton (Merfolk): monarchies of merfolk with great cities on the sea floor, complex relations with one another and occasional dealings with the surface.
