Gnoll

Gnolls are the hyena-folk of Vitaea, a Landborn heritage organized into competitive, warlike bands. Their settlements are temporary and move with the band, and leadership falls to the fittest and strongest among them. Gnolls descend from the True Sylvari and gained sapience in the Great Awakening, about 40,000 years ago.

A gnoll stands about seven feet tall and weighs around 250 pounds. Fur runs grey, white, brown or black, their senses are sharp, and their eyes are suited to low light.

Rank in a band is rarely settled for long. Strength and a keen survival instinct earn respect, and a gnoll on a rampage is a frightening thing on the battlefield.

Gnolls roam Terkon, the steppe country of Xodai, where the Terkon Clans contend for territory.

A gnoll lives around 50 years, a short span lived at a hard pace.

Most speak Aethyrian Common, Gnollish and Tarkin, a tongue shared by many steppe peoples. That puts them in constant contact, and frequent rivalry, with the Loxodon, the Minos and the other heritages of Terkon.

When a gnoll’s Aethyr Knot ignites, the drive to prove themselves goes with them into a life bound to the Aethyrweave.
