Lyrium Powder

Lyrium powder is finely ground Lyrium, the solid, crystalline form of Aethyr. It is one of the most important refined sources of energy in Geminaea, used both as a fuel and as a catalyst for Aethyr-driven devices and enchantments.

Lyrium is the most stable form of Aethyr, which makes it safer to store and move than higher-energy forms such as Myzium. Grinding the crystal into powder makes its energy easier to measure out and release. Artificers mix it into enchantments, work it into artifacts, or feed it to engines and devices built to burn it.

The powder fuels a wide range of Aethyr technology, and artificers rely on it to craft magical items and lay powerful enchantments. In warfare it powers weapons such as Lyrium blasters.

Lyrium is mined from Aethyr-rich nodes deep within the earth, and it is rare. Nations and empires compete for control of Lyrium-rich regions, and a productive mine can turn a small settlement into a bustling city with industries built around refining and trading it. The powder is valuable accordingly.

Stable does not mean safe. Concentrated Aethyr remains dangerous even in solid form, and Lyrium that is agitated, ignited or struck can explode with chaotic potential, a hazard well known to everyone who works with it.
