Rhoken (Rhox)

The Rhoken, also called Rhoxodon, are the rhino-folk of Vitaea, a Landborn heritage of scattered families. They live in a mixed society of semi-nomadic tribes led by one of the great Khans of the Plain. They descend from the True Sylvari and gained sapience in the Great Awakening, some 40,000 years ago.

A Rhoken stands about seven and a half feet tall and weighs around 350 pounds. Their hide is thick, largely hairless and bristled, and a great horn rises from the snout. They are famously hard to knock off their feet.

Rhoken are counted among the Terkon Clans, whose cultures range from wandering herders to monastic farming communities. Their keen senses make them valued scouts and watchers for the tribe.

Their home region is Terkon, the grassy steppe of Xodai.

A Rhoken can live around 250 years.

Most speak Aethyrian Common, Tarkin and Rhoxan. They share the khans’ rule with the Loxodon, Minos and Quillbren, and the steppe with the Centaurs.

When a Rhoken’s Aethyr Knot ignites, their strength and steadiness go with them into a life bound to the Aethyrweave, along with the chance of revival that only Aethyrsparked souls have.
