Wataari (Gith)

The Wataari are the body of the Otaan given form. After The Rending, the Otaan, the last mortals of Terra, split their people in two: their bodies became the Wataari and their minds the Eldaari. Together the two peoples are known as the Arbiters, custodians of the Godspact.

Wataari stand about six feet tall and weigh around 150 pounds. Their leathery skin runs to brown, green or blue and is marked with spines, their dark hair is straight or wavy, and their beards are light. They see well in dim light and can move by teleportation.

Where the Eldaari embody thought, the Wataari embody control over reality. Under the Godspact they carried out the will of the gods within the mortal realm, shaping events rather than interpreting them.

The Wataari first lived on Anevar, the former moon of Terra. After the War of the Watchers nearly wiped them out, the survivors crossed the Astral Sea and built the sanctuary of Tu’Narath.

A Wataari can live for around 1,000 years, and the people date back some 306,000 years.

Their bond with the Eldaari, once a partnership, broke in the War of the Watchers. Under the renewed Godspact, both peoples may choose to join mortal society or to remain as guides.
