Airships

Airships, often called skyships, are large vessels that travel through the air, carrying passengers and cargo between cities and across regions that would take weeks to cross on the ground. They are among the most visible signs of Geminaea’s Aethyr-driven transport, and their docks and mooring spires shape the skylines of the cities that build and host them.

Most airships run on Myzium, the plasma form of Aethyr, held in sealed cells because it disperses quickly once released. Aethyr’s ability to loosen the pull of gravity lets a vessel rise and hold its height, while engines convert stored energy into thrust for steering and speed.

Airships move trade goods, travelers and mail, and serve as warships in larger fleets. Great powers fielded skyfleets during the Lunar War. Which powers build and field airships today is yet to be described.

Building and crewing an airship takes a shipyard, skilled engineers and a steady supply of fuel, so most belong to guilds, industrial houses or governments. Passage aboard one is common in wealthy regions and rare elsewhere.

A ruptured fuel cell can release volatile Myzium at height, and a failing engine leaves little room for error.
