Drones
Drones are small constructs built to carry out simple tasks without constant direction. Where a golem is a large, powerful servant, a drone is light, numerous and cheap enough to be put to everyday work.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”Like other constructs, a drone joins a mechanical body to a bound magical intelligence that follows a limited set of instructions. Most are powered by Aethyr, either through a stored charge or by drawing on currents of Aethyr in the air.
Common Uses
Section titled “Common Uses”Drones take on repetitive or hazardous work: carrying messages and small loads, inspecting machinery, watching over property and maintaining infrastructure. Societies that make heavy use of automation and constructs are where such machines are most likely to be found.
Availability
Section titled “Availability”Simple drones are within reach of workshops and merchant houses in technologically advanced cities. More capable models cost more and are often reserved for guilds and governments.
A drone does what it is told and little else. Faulty instructions, a damaged body or failing power can leave it idle or erratic, and drones near concentrated Aethyr face the same instability as any other Aethyr device.
