The Eldaari Ascendancy

The Eldaari Ascendancy is the name given to the culmination of a long, hidden effort by the Eldaari to take hold of the collective belief of Geminaea’s mortals. It spans the close of the Lunar Era and the opening of the Ascendant Era, and it is among the historical events that most directly shaped the present day.

Origins

The Eldaari descend from the Otaan, who divided themselves after The Rending: their minds became the Eldaari and their bodies the Wataari. Under the Godspact, the Eldaari used the Mind Stone to gather mortal belief and carry it to the gods. Over time they came to judge Ola’Vandyr’s idea of balance as misguided, and to believe they could improve on it.

Course of Events

The plan unfolded in secret. When the Wataari uncovered it, the two peoples fought the War of the Watchers, which left the Wataari defeated and scattered. Unopposed, the Eldaari quietly replaced leaders across Geminaea, Shaimyra among them, and threaded magical conduits through Ravena to govern its arcane core. In the final stage the twin planets were sent hurtling toward Ravena, and the Eldaari appeared as rescuers sent by Eldaar, the central mind of their people, urging mortals to forsake the gods who had left them.

Legacy

The Ascendancy was meant to place the full power of mortal belief in Eldaar’s hands. The Phoenix Chryseum exposed the plot and forced it forward before it was complete, and their confrontation with Eldaar ended in the rewriting of the Godspact.
