The War of the Watchers

The War of the Watchers was the conflict between the Eldaari and the Wataari, the two peoples descended from the Otaan, fought on and around Anevar during the Lunar Era. It is one of the historical events that took place far from the mortal worlds, at the outer edge of the Geminaean system.

Origins

From the end of the Reconstruction, the Wataari and the Eldaari kept their vigil on Anevar side by side, each half of the Otaan carrying out its duty under the Godspact. That partnership broke when the Wataari discovered that the Eldaari were working in secret to take control of the collective belief of mortals, a scheme that would later culminate in the Eldaari Ascendancy.

Course of Events

The fighting stretched across centuries and ended in defeat for the Wataari, who were nearly wiped out. Their half of Anevar, Tu’zarai, was left in shattered ruins. The few survivors fled across the Astral Sea, where they built the fortress and sanctuary of Tu’Narath from the corpse of their progenitor, Ola’Vandyr.

Legacy

The war removed the one power able to check the Eldaari. In the centuries that followed, they brought the Astral Dragons nesting in the Wataari remnants under their sway and delved into the planet’s core to build a sanctum for Eldaar, the central mind of their people. With their old partners scattered, they were free to pursue their plans across Geminaea unopposed.
