Scorchbringer

Scorchbringer is the name of one of Geminaea’s weapons. As its name suggests, it is associated with fire and burning. Little else about it is recorded yet, including whether the name belongs to a single renowned weapon or to a whole pattern of arms made in the same style.

Like most Geminaean technology, a weapon of this kind would draw on Aethyr, which amplifies heat and light in the materials it suffuses. A fire weapon might store that energy in a sealed cell or crystal and release it as flame, or channel it into a burning edge or blast. Incendiary substances such as alchemist’s fire offer another way to produce the same effect.

Fire weapons are suited to breaking enemy lines, clearing fortifications and fighting creatures that fear flame. They are also used to intimidate, since few sights on a battlefield are as alarming as a gout of fire.

Weapons of this power are not everyday goods. They are most likely to be found in the hands of armies, guilds and wealthy collectors, or in the cities where Aethyr armaments are designed and tested.

Fire spreads beyond its target easily, and a weapon that handles high-energy Aethyr can rupture or misfire. Wielders risk burns, and the places they fight risk far worse.
