The Aethyrline
The Aethyrline is a network that carries messages across long distances by Aethyr. Where a speaking stone links a handful of people, the Aethyrline links places, passing messages between stations far faster than any courier could carry them.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”The Aethyrline relies on the same principle as other Aethyr communication: Aethyr connects all things through the Aethyrweave, and it can carry energy through enchanted objects almost instantly. Stations along the line send and receive messages and pass them onward, and each station needs a steady supply of power to keep its part of the line open.
Common Uses
Section titled “Common Uses”Governments, guilds and merchant houses use the Aethyrline to send orders, prices, contracts and news. Its speed makes it valuable to anyone whose business depends on knowing first, from trading houses to military commanders.
Availability
Section titled “Availability”Access is usually paid for, and the busiest stations sit in major cities and trade hubs. Remote settlements may have no station at all and still rely on couriers.
A network that carries so much information is a tempting target. A damaged station can cut off a whole region, and messages that pass through many hands can be intercepted, delayed or forged.
