Haku-Prota (Proto-Races)

Haku-Elda (Proto-Elves)

Haku-Greka (Proto-Orcs)

Haku-Dweka (Proto-Dwarves)

Haku-Grana (Proto-Giant)

The Haku-Prota are the ancestral peoples of Aradaea. The planet’s first humans evolved from ancient ape-like creatures through both natural and magical forces, and as they spread across the land some of their descendants diverged into distinct proto-races. These ancestors no longer survive in their original forms, but nearly every Aradaean people traces its lineage back through one of them.

Each proto-race split from the human line for its own reason. Magic changed the ancestors of the elves and the giants, diet set the proto-orcs apart, and the land itself shaped the proto-dwarves. The proto-giants are the oldest of the four, at around 250,000 years, followed by the proto-elves, the proto-dwarves and finally the proto-orcs.

The proto-races differed greatly in lifespan, from around a century for the proto-orcs to a thousand years for the proto-giants, and those differences still show in their descendants today.

  • Haku-Elda (Proto-Elves): magically changed ancestors of the Elden, long-lived at around 500 years.
  • Haku-Greka (Proto-Orcs): ancestors of the Grekkin, set apart by diet.
  • Haku-Dweka (Proto-Dwarves): ancestors of the Dwek, shaped by the regions they settled.
  • Haku-Grana (Proto-Giants): magically changed ancestors of the Gran, living around a thousand years.
