Skyborn
The Skyborn are the Vitaean peoples of the air and the high places, bird-folk and dragon-folk alike. Like most Vitaean heritages they rose to sapience during the Great Awakening, some 40,000 years ago.
Most Skyborn call Zarriel home, a land of towering mountains where the falcon-folk built a militaristic hegemony that ruled over the flightless raven-folk and kept diplomatic ties with the independent owl-folk. The dragon-folk instead hold Dragar, and both Dragar and Zarriel sent leaders to help forge Ravena. Lifespans vary widely, from around 50 years for the raven-folk and falcon-folk to a century for the owl-folk and about 200 years for the dragon-folk.
The Skyborn Heritages
Section titled “The Skyborn Heritages”- Krekku (Kenku): flightless raven-folk in council-led communities, often confined to crowded quarters and treated as an underclass by the Aaraki.
- Aaraki (Aarakocra): a proud republican empire of falcon-folk whose territory spans many of the world’s highest peaks.
- Dragari (Dragonborn): a confederation of dragon-folk states divided by lineage and led by an oligarchic council of dragons, known for pride, independence and commerce.
- Owlin (Owlfolk): solitary owl-folk who live in small families in remote places and are known for curiosity, wisdom and kinship.
