Regions of Ravena

The Districts

The Wilds

Ravena is the moon that anchors Aradaea and Vitaea in each other’s skies. It was forged when Aethyr-rich comets were driven into collision to end the Convergence Crisis, and over the following centuries it was shaped into a world fit to live on. The century-long War of the Moon later reshaped much of its surface, hollowing mountains into strongholds and leaving whole regions scarred.

Today the moon divides broadly into two kinds of land. Much of the population lives in a single vast megalopolis, a dense, highly urbanized city of perhaps 50 to 60 million people, according to the estimate in Demographics & Population. Beyond the city lie open lands that the guilds influence but do not fully govern.

  • The Districts cover the city itself. Under the Guildpact, each guild oversees a district of its own, and Ravena Center lies at the heart of the city. Guild affiliation determines where a citizen lives.
  • The Wilds cover the untamed country beyond the city: plains, swamps, mountains and stranger places where Ravena’s magic runs close to the surface.

For the moon’s past, see the History of Ravena. The Ravena Maps show both the planetary surface and the city’s districts.
