Weather & Conditions

Valdesh’s weather is shaped by its elements as much as by its seasons. The region sits upon an Elemental Scar, and the elemental planes press closer here than anywhere else on Aradaea, so its climate is more volatile than the lands around it. The main Valdesh page holds the region’s written lore.

  • The crossing. The seas between Valdesh and its neighbors are known for fickle currents and volatile storms born of elemental instability.
  • The land. The earth smolders beneath volcanic calderas, desert winds howl in the north-west, and the highest peaks can be reached only by the lightest of step.
  • Akazaea. The southernmost isles are a near-antarctic expanse of glacier, drifting sea ice and polar wind. A perpetual tempest of ice, thunder and lightning rages around the summit of Mount Akazaea, where the city of Azenzaea is built.
  • Instability. Confluences flare unexpectedly and storms gather without warning. The Sky-Sunder Peaks still show permanent distortions attributed to sustained air surges.
  • Living with it. Air Elemari practice weather modulation, one of the trades that bind the Elemari economy together.

During the Rifttide, storm systems formed without seasonal cause and firestorms burned in the north-western deserts; the Rifttorn Covenant settled the land at a heightened but sustainable equilibrium (see the Mythic History).

The region’s seasons, typical weather by area and the hazards travelers face are yet to be described.
