Aethaboren (Aetherborn)
The Aethaboren are humanoid manifestations of Aethyr itself, beings that take shape where magical energy gathers in unusual concentration. They are rare and usually appear alone rather than as a people, and they live brief, intense lives marked by a deep affinity for magic and a constant hunger for it.
Appearance
Section titled “Appearance”An Aethaboren stands about five feet tall yet weighs only around 25 pounds, light enough to glide on the air. Their hairless bodies look fractured and fleeting, with skin in porcelain, ashen or purple tones, as if the energy that formed them has not fully settled.
Homeland
Section titled “Homeland”Their home plane is given as the Aethyr. In Kaladar, where refineries concentrate Aethyr on an industrial scale, they have long appeared near manufacturing centers, and most citizens there regard them as a dangerous byproduct to be hunted down. Some have argued that their awareness should earn them recognition as mortal beings.
Life Cycle
Section titled “Life Cycle”An Aethaboren rarely lives more than about ten years. The heritage as a whole is thought to be around 500 years old.
Among the Aethyrsparked
Section titled “Among the Aethyrsparked”Born of Aethyr, an Aethaboren whose soul ignites into an Aethyrflame becomes an unusually gifted conduit for magic, though the short span of their life remains.
