The Exploration Era is the first era of the Discovery Timeline, lasting 1,000 years. It opens the recorded history of Aradaea and Vitaea. The sapient races of both planets gather into kingdoms and empires, push into unknown lands and seas, and begin to ask what the world is and why it exists. It is an age of growth and of frequent conflict, as rising powers compete for land, resources and influence.

  • Kingdoms and empires: the peoples of both planets form larger states and set out to explore their worlds.
  • Wars of expansion: kingdoms and empires clash over territory, resources and politics.
  • New techniques: advances are made in warfare and in the arts of civilization.
  • Distinct peoples: cultures and racial identities take firmer shape.
  • Settled worlds: Aradaea and Vitaea become widely settled across both planets.
  • The Prophets: the era ends when the Archons of the Gods begin contacting mortals across Geminaea and the first Prophets of the Pantheon appear.

Many of the cities and trade routes of later ages date from this era. In western Shezul, for example, scattered settlers founded the independent trade cities that would grow into Kaladar. The arrival of the Prophets at its close begins a slow shift in how the peoples of Geminaea understand the gods and one another.
