Convergence Era

Major Events
  • A coalition is formed between the most magically advanced civilizations of Geminaea of both planets with the goal of solving the Convergence Crisis
  • Life is generally overshadowed by a feeling of doom and desperate optimism
  • Some conflicts arise due to a rise in anarchic / destruction cults
  • Some civilizations who are less magically advanced become more insular
  • Some believe that mortal’s control of magic has caused the convergence to occur and the anti-magic movement grows
  • Some believe the convergence to be a test sent by the Gods of the Pantheon to determine if they are worthy and religious belief in the Geminaean Pantheon increases
  • Aradaean and Vitaean Arcane Researchers eventually determine a possible solution to the Convergence Crisis by amassing large amounts of mineral magic (Lyrium) from each planet and hurling the chunks at each other to produce a highly magically active “moon” between the two planets
  • Ends when the Lunar Solution to the Convergence Crisis is executed and Ravena is created, stabilizing the distance between the twinned planets

The Convergence Era is the first era of the Neoteric (Modern) Timeline, following the Arcane Era and lasting 200 years. Aradaea and Vitaea are drifting toward each other, and the peoples of both worlds know it. Life in this age is shadowed by doom and desperate hope while arcanists search for a way to stop the collision.

  • A coalition: the most magically advanced civilizations of both planets join forces to solve the Convergence Crisis.
  • Cults and conflict: anarchic and destructive cults spread, and some conflicts break out.
  • Withdrawal: some less magically advanced civilizations turn inward.
  • Against magic: some blame mortal magic for the convergence, and the anti-magic movement grows.
  • A divine test: others see the crisis as a trial sent by the Gods of the Pantheon, and belief in them rises.
  • The Lunar Solution: researchers propose gathering great masses of Lyrium from each planet and hurling them at one another to form a magically active moon between the worlds.
  • Ravena: the era ends when the Lunar Solution is carried out and Ravena is created, fixing the distance between the twin planets.

The Convergence Era gives Geminaea its moon and its modern shape. Ravena’s creation also drains much of the magic from both planets, which is part of why mortals soon turn to the new moon’s power. The quarrel between those who blamed magic and those who trusted it to save them carries straight into the War of the Moon.
