The Inquiry Era is the second era of the Discovery Timeline, following the Exploration Era and lasting 1,000 years. Inspired by the Prophets of the Pantheon, the scattered races of Geminaea begin to share beliefs and, with them, a sense of common identity. It is a more settled and studious age than the one before it, in which curiosity about the world turns into organized learning.

  • Shared identity: the beliefs taught by the Prophets of the Pantheon draw different races together.
  • The old faiths change: the “Old World” religions are abandoned or adapt to the Prophets’ teachings.
  • Organized study: structured research into the nature of the world begins in earnest.
  • Magic examined: magic comes to be studied with more scientific and less superstitious methods.
  • Mortal Rights: new political and social structures emerge, including the idea of “Mortal Rights”.
  • Fewer wars: conflict is less common than in the Exploration Era, though it does not disappear.
  • Magic for all: the era ends with the discovery that every creature of Geminaea can influence magic.

The Inquiry Era lays the intellectual ground for the Arcane Era. On Aradaea the first magical academies date from this period of growing scholarship, and towns such as those of Kaladar grow into prosperous city-states as trade and knowledge spread.
